Video Documentaries

ReVINYLised

This video documentary is entitled ReVINYLised. It was the main section of my thesis (02/09/2016) during my year-long MA in Journalism with New Media (2015/2016) at the Cork Institute of Technology. The documentary revolves around the resurgence of vinyl records and record shops in today’s society. There is also a corresponding radio documentary of the same name completed as part of my first semester.

Special thanks to the interviewees:

  • Stevie G (DJ at Cork’s RedFM, vinyl business owner, and vinyl enthusiast)
  • John Byrne (serial vinyl collector from Cork)
  • John “BIPOLARBEATS” Dwyer (Pistol & Boo Vinyl, Mother Jones Flea Market, Cork)

Goodnight, Sweet Print

Just to note, at the time of this video’s release, at 2:08, I stated that the circulation of the Cork Independent had declined. This was untrue. The circulation remained the same.

This video documentary is entitled Goodnight, Sweet Print. It was the main project for my second semester (17/05/2016) during my year-long MA in Journalism with New Media (2015/2016) at the Cork Institute of Technology. The documentary revolves around the ever-changing world of journalism and how the changing landscape has drastically altered the media world. Although physical print has taken a hit over the last half decade or so, it still seems to have a place in society.

Special thanks to the interviewees:

  • Dan Linehan (Chief Photographer, Irish Examiner)
  • Steve Neville (Digital Operations Specialist, Irish Examiner)
  • Jarlath Feeney (Managing Director, Cork Independent)
